Intel Receives Award For Corporate Social Responsibility Lea

WASHINGTON, D.C., Nov. 3, 2005 – For its leadership in corporate social responsibility, Intel Corporation received Business Ethics magazine’s first-ever corporate social responsibility (CSR) management award at the Business for Social Responsibility Conference in Washington, D.C.

“Business Ethics salutes Intel for leading the way in ethics and corporate social responsibility excellence,” said Marjorie Kelly, editor of Business Ethics magazine.

Intel is included in more than 50 different socially responsible mutual funds, a distinction shared with few other companies in the world. Among many other forms of recognition, the company has regularly ranked in the top five on Business Ethics’ “100 Best Corporate Citizens” list and placed as the Technology Sector Leader in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the past five years. Intel was also among the first companies in the United States to report in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative, a rigorous international framework for corporate social and environmental reporting.

“This recognition is a testament to the large number of Intel employees, from environmental systems to human resources to manufacturing, who integrate corporate social responsibility management into their daily work,” said Dave Stangis, Intel director of corporate responsibility. “From our Intranet-based emerging issues global monitoring system to required, rigorous ethics training for each employee to the network of professionals who help drive continuous improvement, Intel aims for the highest possible ethical standard in all the places where we operate around the world.”

“Over the last 10 years, Intel has demonstrated a firm commitment to continuous improvement in corporate responsibility reporting and management,” said Paul Hilton of Calvert Funds, a Business Ethics Awards judge. “Intel has set a standard that other companies have felt compelled to emulate.”
