Panda Security presents its new 2008 product line with megadetection

Panda Security has launched its new 2008 consumer product line comprising Panda Antivirus 2008, Panda Antivirus+Firewall 2008 and Panda Internet Security 2008. The new solutions have a far greater detection and disinfection capacity as they are based on the new security model, megadetection, allowing them to detect and disinfect more than one million threats.

The megadetection model is based on five basic pillars:
- Permanent protection, thanks to daily automatic updates
- Proactive protection with TruPrevent Technologies that detect unknown threats through behavioral analysis.
- In-depth online scanning with Panda TotalScan Pro to detect sophisticated malicious code that can evade traditional antivirus solutions.

The new 2008 consumer solutions from Panda Security include a series of enhancements to detection technologies. Apart from a larger signature file, Panda products feature more efficient behavioral detection thanks to the intelligent TruPrevent Technologies. They also include new rootkit location and disinfection technology and support and technical assistance improvements, which will always be provided in the end user’s language.

All 2008 consumer products allow users to scan their computers in depth with TotalScan Pro. The online application detects all types of active and latent malware on PCs, based on the new “collective intelligence” approach. This approach includes automated processing of large quantities of information about programs and files in a new infrastructure managed by PandaLabs, and real-time communication with users’ computers. This way, the malware scanning and detection is performed on Panda Security’s servers, not on the user’s computer.

All these new solutions are very easy to manage and include three licenses to adapt to the fact that many users own more than one computer.

Panda Antivirus+Firewall 2008 permanently and automatically protects against all types of Internet threats, incorporating a double layer of protection, thanks to the proactive TruPrevent Technologies, which are capable of detecting malware not yet identified. Similarly, it prevents hackers from getting into the computer, thanks to its build-in Panda firewall. It also has new anti-rootkit technology and can block malicious web pages.

Panda Internet Security 2008, Panda Security’s integrated security suite, includes specific improvements, such as a local backup system, which allows users to make security copies of files and documents in other devices. It is managed through an easy-to-use console which lets users decide the type of documents to be stored and the frequency with which they are saved. It also includes the TuneUp feature, to improve system performance by removing cookies and temporary files, defragmenting the disk, etc.

“These improvements respond to consumers’ demands for solutions with professional standards, but that are easy to manage,” explains Herrero-Velarde.
