Madrid, July 30 2004 - Microsoft has announced the availability of Web Services Enhancements 2.0 SP1, an update to the utility suite aimed at helping Microsoft Visual Studio .NET and Microsoft .NET Framework developers create secure web services.
Software developers and architects are well aware of the fact that the implementation of web services involves the creation of increasingly complex architectures. As specifications governing these architectures are in a state of constant evolution, the tools that adapt to such specifications are essential to guaranteeing developer interoperability and productivity.
WSE 2.0 SP1 allows developers and administrators to apply security policies to web services supported by Microsoft .NET Framework. Using WSE, Web services communication can be signed and encrypted using Kerberos tickets, X.509 certificates, username/password credentials, and other custom binary and XML-based security tokens.
With respect to the previous version, Service Pack 1 includes numerous changes and improvements to the product kernel, some modifications and additions to the intergration with Visual Studio, RFC3280 support for X.509 certificates, and new features in the WseWsdl2 tool.
