The 1st Worldwide Internet Security campaign continues

- The number of visits to the website and the hundreds of companies and organizations that have joined the initiative are evidence of the success of the campaign

The Internet Users Association and Panda Software, organizers of the 1st Worldwide Internet Security Campaign have decided to extend the duration of this initiative. The decision has been prompted by the exceptional response to the campaign by companies and Internet users around the world. Everyday, thousands of users have been accessing the information provided or downloading utilities from the websites at http://worldwidesecure.org and http://www.seguridadenlared.org.

According to Víctor Domingo, president of the Internet Users Association (AI) ˝This campaign has been designed from the outset to offer a service to Internet users the world over. The massive participation we have witnessed is testimony to the demand for information about IT security and we have decided to respond by extending the campaign.˝

José María Hernández, VP International Expansion at Panda Software, is highly satisfied with the way users have responded to the 1st Worldwide Internet Security Campaign: ˝The fact that we have extended the campaign is indicative of the concern among users about Internet security. Since it was first launched on June 17, more than 300 companies and institutions around the globe have taken part in the 1st Worldwide Internet Security Campaign, organized by the Internet Users Association and Panda Software. Under the slogan ˝Ridding the Planet of Viruses˝, the campaign has brought together all these players with the common goal of making the Internet safer. At the same time the response among the Internet users community has been huge, with countless users protecting their PCs with the tolls provided by this initiative.

The 1st Worldwide Internet Security Campaign is available in the eight most widely-used languages on the Internet: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese and Japanese. Its websites -at www.worldwidesecure.org and www.seguridadenlared.org - will resolve all the questions Internet users might have about security. It also offers all the information they need about every threat and specific solutions for each of them, as well as allowing them to protect their computers against viruses and other types of intruders using the free tools available. Similarly, Internet users also have a direct line to security experts through a forum in which they can post any questions they may have.

The 1st Worldwide Internet Security Campaign is an open initiative, as any Internet user, company or institution can join in and help spread the word.
