SecurityTracker has reported that there is an error in zlib, an important library in Linux systems, as it is used by many programs to carry out file compression and decompression operations.
The vulnerability in zlib is due to the fact that the inflate() and inflateBack() do not correctly handle errors. As a result, a file can be created that when processed by zlib will cause a segment error.
The impact of this security flaw varies depending on the application using the zlib library, although in most cases it will result in a denial of services.
