Denial of service in CuteFTP Professional
Madrid, December 1 2004 - SecurityTracker has reported a Denial of
Service(DoS) vulnerability in version 6.0 of the FTP CuteFTP Professional client.
The problem lies in how the client processes replies from the FTP server. Because of this, if a servers sends a specially crafted reply code and a maliciously created text, an attacker could cause the client to crash.
It has not yet been demonstrated if the vulnerability can be exploited to run arbitrary code. Similarly, no update has yet been published to resolve the issue and users are advised to use another FTP client to avoid this problem.
