Madrid, March 2, 2005 - RealNetwork has published new versions of its multimedia player, Real Player, for Windows, Mac and Linux platforms, which resolve serious vulnerabilities.
These security flaws lie in buffer overflows that can be exploited to run arbitrary code, compromising affected systems. In order to provoke and exploit the buffer overflow an attacker would have to create a specially crafted WAV or SMIL file and persuade the victim to try to open it with a vulnerable version of Real Player.
The details about the affected versions and the links to the updates are available in the bulletin released by RealNetworks at: http://service.real.com/help/faq/security/050224_player/EN/
