08/29/2005. Panda Software’s solution, Panda ClientShield with TruPreventTM Technologies for Windows XP, has been recognized by the independent IT security testing organization West Coast Labs, through its Checkmark certification system.

In order to obtain this certification for the protection against spyware, solutions must fulfil a series of requisites, such as the detection and blocking of a series of spyware samples that are currently in circulation, in tests carried out with the West Coast Labs test suite. In addition, the products must not generate false positives or any other type of failure in detection.

The importance of effective spyware protection cannot be underestimated: according to the latest quarterly report from PandaLabs, the anti-malware laboratory at Panda Software, spyware has recently become one of the most serious threats. This is reflected by the fact that more than 51% of all detections were from the categories of spyware and adware.
