Madrid, September 1, 2005 - Creative has reported that a Windows worm has been accidentally distributed in its Zen Neeon line of MP3 players.
Initially, the company did not expect this incident to cause a significant number of infections, as the worm appeared over a year ago and is therefore detected by the majority of antivirus products. What´s more, even though the MP3 player stores the worm, the user must connect the device to a PC and try to run the file for it to activate.
Users of Zen Neeon MP3 players can check if their device is affected by checking the serial number at: http://jp.creative.com/images/support/tsn/pn_pic_jp.jpg
The subject of today´s Oxygen3 24h-365d once again demonstrates the need to have permanent protection installed on computers, as malware can reach computers through many different ways, including storage devices that are, in theory, trustworthy, such as original CDs MP3 players or USB memories.
