Madrid, August 7, 2006 - The new version of GnuPG, 1.4.5, has been released, which fixes two critical vulnerabilities. All users are recommended to upgrade to this new version as soon as possible.
GnuPG is free public encryption software that implements standard OpenPGP, with support for all algorithms; ElGamal, DSA, RSA, AES, 3DES, Blowfish, Twofish, CAST5, MD5, SHA-1, RIPE-MD-160 and TIGER.
Multiple vulnerabilities have recently been detected in the latest versions, including two buffer overflow vulnerabilities in GnuPG 1.4.4, which could allow Denial of Service (DoS) attacks or remote execution of arbitrary code.
The GnuPG development team has released the new version, 1.4.5, to correct these flaws, and recommends all users to install it as soon as possible to prevent possible attacks.
The original bulletin with details on how to download and install the new version of GnuPG, depending on the version currently installed, is available at http://lists.gnupg.org/pipermail/gnupg-announce/2006q3/000229.html
