Madrid, October 2, 2006 - Apple has released security updates for Mac OS X to correct multiple vulnerabilities. The problems can be exploited by local or remote attackers to run arbitrary code, cause denial of services or disclose important information.
The components affected by this update are: CFNetwork, Flash Player, ImageIO, Kernel, LoginWindow, Preferences, QuickDraw Manager, SASL, WebCore and Workgroup Manager.
The problems resolved include one that could allow unauthenticated SSL sites to appear as authenticated in CFNetwork clients (such as Safari). These updates also correct the following situations: the Flash player could allow execution of arbitrary code; running of arbitrary code when viewing maliciously created JPEG2000 files, and a kernel vulnerability that could allow local execution of arbitrary code.
Affected Mac OS X systems include versions from 10.3.9 to 10.4.7. Users are advised to update to the new 10.4.8 version available at: here
