Vulnerability in Solaris

Madrid, October 10 2006 - Sun has released the update to correct a vulnerability in Solaris 10 which could allow local users to monitor network traffic.

The problem, reported at , http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-26-102606-1 , lies in incorrect assigning of permissions in the default configuration of Solaris 10, which could allow local users without privileges to call/dev/aggr to create a raw socket in a Solaris link aggregation. This could allow full access to network packets.

Sun has published the updates necessary to avoid this problem. These are available at the following addresses:

- For Solaris 10 - SPARC platform: http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=urn:cds:docid:1-21-118833-23-1

- For Solaris 10 x86 platform: http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=urn:cds:docid:1-21-118855-19-1
