Awarding the National Theatre and the House of Terror Museum

In the Hungarian daily paper Népszabadság, on 14 March 2002

On 15 March (national holiday in Hungary) President of the Republic of Hungary Ferenc Mádl awarded the people having contributed remarkably to the completion of the new Hungarian National Theatre and the museum House of Terror with different orders and medals: the Magyar Köztársasági Érdemend és Érdemkereszt. The award was handed over on Wednesday in the Munkácsy saloon of the House of Parliament. Ferenc Mádl highlighted the significant role of both newly completed buildings in the ides of March, our national holiday.

The medal Köztársasági Érdemrend Középkeresztje has been awarded to engineer-artificer Imre Réfi and architect Mária Siklós for their prominent work, while the medal Magyar Köztársasági Érdemrend Tisztikeresztje has been awarded to CEO of Arcadom Rt. Péter Bálint, architect Igor Popov and Bernard Trevillion for interior decoration of the Hungarian National Museum. Secretary General Mrs. Éva Márton, head of the architect works Tamás Kiss-Vámosi, technical director Bálint Kovács and financial director Ferenc Juhász have been awarded the golden medal Magyar Köztársasági Arany Érdemkereszt, while for stage technical preparations Anikó Csépányi, head of the carpenter unit József Csík, electric mechanic Ernő Gáspár, for sheathing works Kulánda Vilmos, foreman Vilmos Lázár and head of the construction works Gábor Szabó have been awarded the silver medal Magyar Köztársasági Ezüst Érdemkereszt.

The medal Magyar Köztársasági Érdemrend Középkeresztje has been given to László Balás-Piri head of the Central and Eastern European Historical and Societal Researches Foundation, while the medal Magyar Köztársasági Érdemrend Tisztikeresztje went to CEO of Architecton Rt. André László, playreader-performer-artist of merit Sándor Fábry, historian Gábor Kiszely and songwriter-poet-performer Ákos Kovács for their outstanding contribution to the formation of the House of Terror.

The medal Magyar Köztársasági Érdemrend Lovagkeresztje has been handed over to playreader Csaba Kardos, historian Miklós Kun, retired engineer Gyula Mészáros, architect János Sándor, architect-arthistorian András Szalai, while the golden medal A Magyar Köztársasági Arany Érdemkereszt to CEO of C.Enter Kft. Zoltán Csáki, director László Makai and CEO of Lysis Rt. István Vonnák. Architect Kálmán Újszászi and graphic designer István Őri-Kiss have received the silver medal Magyar Köztársasági Ezüst Érdemkereszt.
